Gardening that fits your time and space
A garden doesn’t have to be large to earn its place. A few containers by the kitchen, a raised bed of herbs or a sunny corner for cut flowers can become a restorative routine instead of a chore.
Start with the light you have
Track how many hours of direct sun reach each spot before you buy plants. Give sun-loving herbs and vegetables the brightest areas and keep shadier corners for leafy plants that prefer softer light.
Make watering simple
Group containers with similar needs and keep a can or hose close by. Mulch helps soil hold moisture, and saucers with well-draining pots keep small spaces tidy after a deep soak.
Treat tools as part of the plan
A small bench, a hook for hand tools and a lidded bin for soil make upkeep easier. When every basic has a home, five minutes of pruning or harvesting becomes an easy habit.
